Interpreting is the facilitating of oral communication, either consecutively or simultaneously, from one source language into a different target language in real time. Interpreters need to have a deep linguistic and cultural knowledge of their working languages. They should possess the skill of instantly and accurately communicate the meaning of a message from one language into another. Interpreters are always in direct contact with both the speaker and the audience. We offer the following types of interpreting services:
On-site Consecutive Interpreting
In consecutive interpreting, the interpreter takes notes whilst listening to the source-language speaker. Every so often, the speaker will have to pause to allow the interpreter render each portion of the message in the target language. There is normally only one person talking at a time. This format is often used in smaller settings.
On-site Simultaneous Interpreting
The interpreter listens to the source-language speaker continuously speak and renders the message in the target language in real time. Simultaneous interpreters should have a deep cultural knowledge and master both working languages, as well as be able to listen and speak at the same time. This service is most popular amongst corporate clients and large organizations. It is frequently used for large group settings. The use of specialized equipment is generally required.
Chuchotage (whispered interpreting)
In this modality of interpreting, the interpreter sits or stands next to the target-language audience and whispers a simultaneous interpretation. It is recommended when the listener does not need to speak and only wishes to know what is being said.
This form of interpreting is the most informal and most popular of all in the business world. It takes place in varied settings in which the interpreter serves as a liaison between two or more individuals who speak two different languages.
Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI)
Whether you are face-to-face with your customer or over the phone, BLMS can provide you with OPI services when and where you need them.
The phone interpreter serves as a cross-linguistic communication conduit between the participants of a telephone call. The interpreter listens to the message, analyzes it, and renders a meaning-by-meaning interpretation in a different language. This is a cost-effective solution for your organization.
Translation is confined to the written language.
